#AspireToChangeLives by becoming a sponsor or donating to Tee Up for Recovery.

For years, Missouri families and businesses have been seeking ways to help children, teens, and young adults impacted by substance use and mental health disorders. Tee Up for Recovery is the perfect way to have a huge impact.

We are asking Missouri businesses and families to please consider sponsoring or donating to our Tee Up for Recovery 2023.

It’s a sad fact that few people in this country are untouched by the grief of seeing someone they love struggle with substance use or mental health disorders.  Early intervention is critically important and can literally change the course of people’s lives.

This Fall, Aspire Advocates for Behavioral Health is proud to host our third annual Tee Up for Recovery Topgolf Fundraiser Event. We are hosting fundraising events in St. Louis (Oct 8) and Kansas City (Nov 12). Tee Up for Recovery is part fundraiser and part celebration of young people in recovery from mental health and substance use disorders.  The event focuses on the JOY OF BEING IN RECOVERY.  We have a sponsor that underwrites the cost of 100+ young people in recovery to attend the event for free.  I’m including a link to a video from our 2020 event.  All of the young people in the video attended the event for free.

Why recovery from mental health and substance use disorders for young people is so important:

  • 50% of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by age 14 and 75% by age 24.
  • 10 years is the average delay between onset of symptoms and intervention.
  • 37% of students with a mental health condition age 14 and older drop out of school- the highest dropout rate of any disability group
  • 70% of youth in state and local juvenile justice systems have a mental illness.
  • 195,000 Americans died in 2020-2021 due to overdoses and alcoholism, the highest number ever recorded
  • Today, one in every 10 Americans over the age of 12 are addictedto alcohol/drugs totaling more than 23.5 million U.S. citizens
  • More than 90% of people who have an addiction started to drink alcohol or use drugs before they were 18 years old
  • Addictions cost our Nation, exacting more than $740 billion annually in costs related to crime, lost work productivity and health care
  • Alcohol-related deaths in Missouri are more likely to involve underage drinker
  • The United States has some of the worst mental health-related outcomes, including the highest suicide rate and second-highest drug-related death rate
